NZCQ & Geek Freeks are heading to Craft 2.0

Watch out, the JAFFAS are coming. Mr & Mrs NZCQ and Mr & Mrs Geek Freek are heading to Wellington! We're making our first appearance at Craft2.0 on Saturday 11th October.

As we're flying down from Auckland for the event, I won't be selling cupcakes, but I'll be there with NZ Cupcake Queen framed cross stitches and my Stitch'd Ink cross stitch kits. We'll be sharing a table with Karla and Alex with their Geek Freeks plushies.

We're looking forward to meeting all the Wellington crafters and Sue who runs Craft2.0. If you're in Wellington, come along and say hi and feel free to give us tips on good cupcakes, coffee and vegetarian/vegan food!

Kraftbomb is back!!

Kraftbomb, the new monthly craft show that I put on with my crafty partner in crime Karla, is back again for September.

Sunday 28th September
1-4pm
Grey Lynn Community Centre - Garden Room
510 Richmond Road, Grey Lynn

Come along and check out our amazingly talented vendors selling badass crafts with a rock'n'roll twist. Karla and Alex will be there with their Geek Freeks stall and yours truly, the NZCQ will be there with cupcakes and cross stitch.

Be warned! Last Kraftbomb my 4 dozen cupcakes sold out in 45mins and so many people missed out. This time I'm bringing extra, but be there early to avoid disappointment!!

And don't forget, due to demand we've outgrown our space in the Garden Room so from October onwards we'll be moving to the larger hall at the Grey Lynn Community Centre. The October Kraftbomb is looking to be an exciting craft extravaganza, so write it in your diary now - Sunday 26th October!

cupcakes for Distburbed, P.O.D., Alter Bridge and Redline

Our rad friend Raggles aka Craig plays guitar for Redline (an awesome NZ band for those of you overseas!)

Redline opened for all the NZ shows Disturbed, P.O.D. and Alter Bridge just did. Raggles and the Redline boys ordered cupcakes for each of the bands for opening night in Auckland.

Each band got 6 Jaffa and 6 Mountain Dew cupcakes!

Raggles was having too much fun partying like a rockstar with the bands to take photos, but official word is that the NZCQ cupcakes went down a treat with the band boys. Even badass, heavy metal bogans love their sweet treats :-)

cupcake order - dinosaurs!!

cupcake order - Dinosaurs for 3rd birthday

This was an order for a Dinosaur themed 3rd birthday party. Dinosaur cupcakes was a new challenge for me but these little guys came out pretty cute.

Jaffa cupcakes with orange flavoured frosting.

cupcake order - jungle cupcakes part 2!

cupcake order - tigers & monkeys for 1st birthday

cupcake order - tigers & monkeys for 1st birthday

This was an order for a jungle themed 1st birthday party. Apparently the birthday boy's nickname is "their little tiger" so they're quite fitting :-)

cupcake order - presentation cupcakes

cupcake order - presentation cupcakes

These cupcakes were ordered by Marie for a presentation she was doing.

Based on the companies orange logo, she went with chocolate cupcakes with orange frosting, topped with brown m&ms.

To cater for a person on a wheat free diet, I also did some vanilla wheat free cupcakes with chocolate frosting, topped with orange m&ms.

about time I posted something!

Yes, I am still alive! I just haven't been a very good blogger lately and have got behind on posting regularly on NZCQ.

Its all been a bit crazy since the Sunday Star Times article came out and then hot on the heels of that was the very first Kraftbomb, the new craft show started by Karla and myself.

The first Kraftbomb was a huge hit! We could never have hoped for the amazing turnout that we had on the day. For a complete run down on the day, check out the post on our Kraftbomb blog!

the Kraftbomb crowds

In cupcake news, I wasn't really sure how many cupcakes to take along to the first Kraftbomb. So I took along 4 dozen which sold out in the first 45mins and left with me with 2hrs of having to apologise for running out! If you were one of the people who missed out on an NZCQ cupcake, make sure you come along to the next Kraftbomb on Sunday 28th September. I will have PLENTY this time :-)
