gingerbread house for xmas day

I made my frist gingerbread house and it was so much fun. Chris helped me (he's the best baking assistant a girl could ask for!) and we had a great time putting it together and covering it in lollies. I was surprised how easy it actually was. I made sure I cut out cardboard templates first to make sure it would all fit together and then cut the gingerbread dough to the right shape before baking. I put it all together with royal icing (my first time making it) and it really did work gluing the walls and roof together.

On Xmas day Chris and I went to an amazing lunch held at my parent's friend's place. I made the gingerbread house for this couple, Jo & Owen, and I think they were quite stoked to get it. Mind you, we never got to try any of it as it was too pretty for them to cut into and they wanted to keep it for a few more days!

The smell of the gingerbread house was amazing:

My cute little lego skull man made a visit to the gingerbread house too :-)

Hi.
I came across your site randomly while looking for cupcake supplies. Very nice work.
Is there another Auckland Craftwerk coming up that you'll be attending? I'd love to come along, say hi & get a cupcake. :)

Hi Emily

thanks for the nice comments. Yes there should be another Craftwerk coming up - maybe late February or March. I sure will be there so come along and say hi and try the cupcakes. The ones with choc skull and crossbones on top always sell out fast!!!
